The Video That Snapped Me Out of It

Anxiety has gotten the best of me the past few weeks. I've been taking on more projects to help the CF Foundation along with other random obligations and have had a hard time keeping up without feeling overwhelmed. It felt like I was always chasing my tail. I lost my zen sweet spot. Then I came across this video that's been circulating the internet and a much-needed shift occurred.  It was a great reminder of how different a child's point of view can be and that it doesn't take much to make them happy. I took a long hard pause and revisited my priorities. With the sands of young innocence slipping through the hourglass, I remembered that making the most of this precious time is at the top of my list. So I reset, becoming more present and trusting that my 'to do' list will get done eventually. Before I knew it, I felt like myself again. I've come to realize that insomnia can have the vulnerability equivalent of a few cocktails. Many a time when I can't sleep I've had subliminal thoughts or posted comments on social media only to wake up the next morning surprised by my level of vulnerability, thinking Where did that come from?! Sometimes when I can't sleep I'll do a gratitude body scan where I start at my feet and work my way up, thanking my body parts/organs for all they do to keep me healthy--driven by the outlandish fear that if they don't feel appreciated they won't work as well combined with a genuine appreciation for how hard they work on a daily basis.  Anyway, one night as I was finishing my mental "scan" I hit a roadblock when CF entered my mind.  While I've always viewed having CF as a gift, actually thanking it felt different.
